That is an interesting article. There are certain rules in the game of golf and that shot is illegal. However for someone to sue over that, after they were all drunk, and for a judge to decide on that premise, I think is a little much. I don't agree with that decision. The guy should have been standing back behind the tee box technically. If they want to get technical on the rules and what is legal.
I know there are a lot of factors that could have led to a different outcome (i.e., had the injured party not been standing in front of the tee box), but I do think that this sounds like a pretty fair ruling.
That said, it sure does set a precedent ... and it sure does add to the list of things I'm thankful for not ending up with someone getting hurt. Yes, I've been part of a stag party or similar events where we've done similar booze-fueled things.
